Brother Francis
Another wednesday practice/jam session. This is an original song we wrote called "Brother Francis". Brother Victor wrote the lyrics in Kansas in our Pre-Novitiate time. The novitiate is a time of intense prayer and study when a postulant (meaning "one who questions") officially enters the order of Capuchin Franciscans. The lyrics are all about our brotherhood and the wonderful gift that it is to us as religious. Both of us wrote the lyrics to the chorus and I wrote the music. It is the second song that Br. Victor and I wrote together. One thing that is for sure is that fraternity and brotherhood are very special gifts for us Franciscans. Hope you enjoy!
Peace.

A Blessed Night at the Catholic Underground
We had a blessed night playing for the adoration hour at the Catholic Underground in Berkeley at St. Mary Magdalen's Church. The photo was taken during the closing part of the night when we all pray Night Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours. This time we actually sung the psalms together. It was great. The Dominican priest to the far right is Fr. Dominic David, O.P. Next to him, is myself, Br. Lance Houck, OFM Cap. And next to me is Grace Miazga-Chaffey on vocals and Adam Chaffey on guitar from the band "City's End". You can check them out here:
Hopefully I will find some more pics to post from the night. The part that Capuchin Brothers Music was involved in was the adoration in the Church. We played four songs for adoration. I was on guitar and vocals, Br. Victor T., OFM Cap was helping me on vocals, as well as Niko Barth on vocals. It was a reverent and holy evening and we hope to do it again soon! So check back for dates and times!
Peace and God Bless!

Another Great Day At the National Shrine!
It was another great day at the Shrine of St. Francis in San Francisco today! We had a guy walking by who stopped and listened to us. He had a really nice camera and was taking pictures....I thought, "Well that's cool." Then after we finished the song, he asked if he could take my picture. So he proceeded to tell me where he wanted me to stand, where I should look, and so on and so forth.
What a riot! It was so fun. It's really amazing the awesome people we get to meet everyday and the way God works all of that out.
He was a real nice guy and is a professional photographer. You can check him out here:
Good times. We sang for about two hours today....originals and popular worship songs. It is a real blessing to be able to bring the Love of Jesus to others through the gift of music.
Peace.

Mary, Blessed Mother
This is a video we made at our Wednesday night practice session. This is the first song that Br. Victor and Br. Lance wrote together and definitely the most popular. Br. Victor wrote the lyrics and Br. Lance wrote the music. In the future we plan on making a studio version of the song for our album and also a music video as well. Stay tuned for updates about that.
Peace.

In the Studio Planning to Record a New Album
We are now in the process of recording some of our songs for our first album. All of the songs will be our own originals written by various members of the team. It does take time to make a record and patience is a necessary virtue.
It is also exciting to be in the studio and we hope that these songs will bless your lives as much as they have blessed ours. Many of the songs on the recording are songs that we will be performing frequently when we play. If you come out to the National Shrine you are sure to hear some of them. The one song that everyone loves and knows best is, "Mary, Blessed Mother". It was the first song Br. Victor and Br. Lance wrote together and holds a special place in our hearts. We can't wait to share this song and many others with you in the near future!
Peace.

Music for Students in the Works at St. Cornelius
We are planning to take the music ministry to the students over at St. Cornelius Catholic School on Mondays. The idea would be to teach them various songs and to possibly play praise and worship songs together. It is a great opportunity to reach out to the youth and to be able to bring this ministry to those in need.
Be looking for updates about the school in the future!

A Great Day at the National Shrine

Today was a great day for our music ministry at the National Shrine of St. Francis in San Francisco! A lot of people stopped by and listened to us play. We had Niko on the cajon, our other postulant William supporting us and singing along, and Br. Lance on the guitar and vocals. Two homeless came
by and talked to us. One of them told us he wanders around all over and just tries to share the love of God with others. It was encouraging to see how many people were happy to see us out there praising God with the gift of music. One lady was watching from her house and then eventually came across the street to check it out...she listened for awhile and gave us an approving thumbs up! It was a reminder of all the blessings and privileges we are given constantly in this wonderful life. We had a great time and look forward to all the wonderful things God will do for this ministry in the future.

Music at the Shrine on Thursdays
Starting tomorrow around 10 am, we are planning on being at the Shrine of St. Francis on various Thursdays to play some music. We will be outside the porziuncola chapel in that small little courtyard. We plan on playing praise and worship and also some originals. This is something we would like to begin doing on a regular basis. We won't be there all the time because of some of the guys schedules but we will try to be there as much as possible. So, if you happen to be in San Francisco tomorrow or some other Thursday, come over and check it out!
Pax. God Bless.

This is a clip of Br. Victor and Br. Alejandro rapping at Joe Melendrez's booth at the LA religious eduction congress. It was awesome to see them get down and praise God with a rapper who is so well known. There are so many blessings and a lot to thank God for all the time!

Welcome to this new music ministry from the Capuchin Franciscan Friars from Our Lady of the Angels Province (California).
The Capuchin Franciscans are a religious order within the Catholic Church that try to spread the love of the Gospel through the religious vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. Our main goal is to live out the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the example of St. Francis of Assisi and to share our encounter of the love of Jesus Christ with everyone we meet.
One special way that we do this is through the gift of music. Through this blog we will be able to share our ministry and all our experiences with you.
As of right now our current team consists of four members:
Br. Victor Taglianetti, OFM Cap (Rapper, vocals, lyrics, songwriting)
Br. Lance Houck, OFM Cap (Guitar, vocals, songwriting)
Daniel Baker (Bass guitar, vocals)
Nikolas Barth (Percussion)
It is very exciting to be able to use these wonderful gifts and we look forward to this new music ministry!
Our goal is to bring a praise and worship format to different parishes, schools, youth events and various venues.
If you are interested in having the Capuchins bring some praise and worship to your parish or to another event you can contact us and we will be happy to get back to you.
God Bless!
And check back soon for more updates!
